Extreme Makeover: Home Edition airs this Sun., Feb. 17, 8-10 p.m., WHAS-11
Opportunity knocked: Local homebuilders led community-wide response "To every man there comes in his lifetime that special moment when he is tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing. What a tragedy if that moment finds him unprepared or unqualified for the work which should be his finest hour."
- Winston Churchill

Fortunately for the Hughes family and for our community, Joe Pusateri (BF '93, LL '90), president of Elite Homes, and his brother, Rocky (LL '06), vice president of Elite Homes, were prepared and well-connected for their "special moment". That moment came in Nov. 2007, when the design team from the hit ABC show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" surprised the Hughes family of Louisville.
As the leader of a massive team of tradespeople and community volunteers, the Elite Homes team orchestrated the building of a brand new home for the Hughes family in just seven days.
Joe recently used the Winston Churchill quote (above) to describe how he felt about his role as a leader in our community and on this project. He added that his participation in the Bingham Fellows and Leadership Louisville helped prepare him for this moment of leadership.
When Joe received the call about participating in the makeover, one of the most important questions asked of him was, "Do you have the connections to make this happen?" Joe was able to answer with a confident, "Yes!".
The Leadership Louisville Center is fortunate to have Joe's leadership as a board member.
