We asked Craig Buthod (LL '00), Director of the Louisville Free Public Library, what it's like to be at the center of the Library Referendum issue. He told us:

Craig Buthod"The public discussion of the Library Improvement Plan has been a great experience in civic engagement.  More than the 5,000 people took part in the town hall meetings, surveys and focus groups that shaped the master plan. Another 14,000 people signed the petition to put the library on the November ballot. It's been great to see so many Louisvillians get involved in making a big community decision, one that will affect the city for generations."

Buthod has directed the Louisville Free Public Library since 1998, serving 700,000 urban and suburban residents.
