Making a 20-year-old organization - CHOICE - sustainable into the next 20 years
Organization: Children Have Options In Choosing Experiences, Inc. (CHOICE) offers drug/substance abuse prevention and counseling programs in JCPS, targeted towards at-risk youth ages 9-19. Objective is building healthy decision-making skills early in life.

Accomplishments: Team Victory created a new interactive website, new promotional video, custom contact management database, updated curriculum and materials. To broaden funding sources they created and managed a new annual fundraiser. The team’s project added $7,500 to the organization’s bottom line. The team is in the process of creating and seeding an endowment fund. They are also assisting with management of financial statements and regulatory filings, and have created a Board of Directors/Advisory Board Development Plan.

Increasing awareness, enrollment and funding for Carriage House Educational Services and Preschool
Organization: Carriage House provides a cost effective, comprehensive educational program for all young children including those diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities in a quality preschool environment.
TEAM ENDEAVOR: (left to right) Michael Leland, PNC Bank; Sarah Beauerle, Yum! Brands, Inc.; Brittany Campisano, Doe-Anderson; Adam Kempf, Norton Healthcare; Geoff White, Frost Brown Todd LLC Warren Forney, Humana Inc. Accomplishments: Team Endeavor planned and executed two community events: an open house and an outreach event for young professionals in partnership with YPAL. They raised $6,000 in 2 weeks to purchase and install new signage for better recognition in the community. They also performed financial analysis and recommended specific ways to increase revenue. The team partnered with Doe Anderson to create attractive donor materials and created a recognition award for the organization. They made policy recommendations to the board and provided 3 new board members.

Helping GuardiaCare with branding, marketing and fundraising
Organization: GuardiaCare Services, Inc. promotes and supports independent and stable lives for senior adults who are at physical and financial risk.

Accomplishments: Team Stealth performed a brand analysis, provided web consultation and developed a social media marketing strategy. They also performed a board analysis, including an efficiency audit and initiated accountability measures for the board and committees. They developed an action plan for increasing volunteer engagement. The team donated a major raffle item to GuardiaCare’s major annual fundraiser, and impacted the organization's bottom line by $5,400.

Creating and launching a youth board for the Louisville Science Center
Organization: The Louisville Science Center encourages people of all ages to enjoy science, mathematics and technology in a stimulating and engaging environment that is educational as well as entertaining.

Accomplishments: Team Icarian was asked to create a youth board for the Louisville Science Center. In response, the team developed the structure for the board and recruited members. They interviewed candidates, aged 12-18, and offered board positions to 9 and committee leadership roles to 23. They developed a comprehensive plan for the youth board that would promote leadership skills, foster teamwork and public-speaking skills, and encourage participants to become ambassadors for the LSC. The team developed a sustainability model, created a first-year plan to include a kick off meeting/networking event and forged partnerships with corporations, schools, and government.

Transforming a concept into a nonprofit organization - Passionate About Kids
Organization: Passionate About Kids provides programs in college preparation, career skills and mentoring for high school students. The goal is to help them transition to post-secondary education through improving self-esteem, social competence and academic achievement.

Accomplishments: The Ignite Passion team was charged with developing a brand new nonprofit organization based on a vision. They shaped the organization, Passionate about Kids, from the ground up. They started and completed the 501(c)3 application process. They created the new organization’s logo, tagline and website. The team staffed the organization’s officers and board of directors and helped raise funds. Team members played a major role in bringing a pilot program at Doss High School to fruition: finding speakers, making presentations to the students, and persuading retailers to donate new clothes to students preparing for job interviews.

Engaging young professionals to reinvigorate Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana
Organization: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckianan provides a “home away from home” for families of children receiving healthcare at area medical facilities while also lending support to other organizations who aid children.

Accomplishments: Team 5x5 was asked to recruit young professionals as volunteers, committee and board members. They identified 18 prospective board or committee members, created a Marketing Communications Committee that included 8 young professionals. They discovered a perfect fit with Spalding University nursing students for an ongoing partnership to provide volunteers. They selected a technology solution to track donors, volunteers, committee members, staff and board members. They created an event for young professionals to compliment the organization's main fundraiser, McDazzle and produced record attendance and profits at the event. The team also implemented a marketing outreach plan and trained staff on new email marketing tool and social media strategies.

Leading a strategic marketing and branding effort for The Steward’s Staff
Organization: The Steward's Staff is dedicated to empowering youth & young adults through leadership development, community engagement and positive reinforcement of self-esteem.
The Indelibles team: (left to right) Gathan Borden, Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau; Jessica Durbin, Louisville Metro Animal Services; Shane Moseley, Cauttrell Agency Jill Kaplan, The Louisville Zoo; Peter Cummins, Frost Brown Todd LLC; Jennifer Ball, Greater Louisville Inc. Accomplishments: The Indelibles' marketing strategy was “let your customers tell your story”. To implement the strategy, they developed a media kit, social media plan and event signage for the organization's annual Unity Brunch. Thanks to the team’s efforts, the organization's "Unity Brunch" will become a sustainable annual fundraiser. They created and funded a “purple bracelet” campaign to empower students to recruit other students to the Steward’s Staff program. They initiated partnerships to help with the annual fundraiser and developed a strategy to diversify the board. In total, their efforts boosted the organization’s bottom line by $7,000.

Creating and launching "Friends of VIPS" to support the work of Visually Impaired Preschool Services
Organization: Visually Impaired Preschool Services, Inc. (VIPS) offers services to infants, toddlers, and preschoolers who are visually impaired or blind and to their families. Team Spark: (left to right) Charlie LeBoeuf, Mountjoy Chilton Medley; Nora Meldrum, Dinsmore & Shohl LLP; Jarrod Little, University of Louisville; Tom Brammer, University of Louisville; Ruth Hans, Presentation Academy; Scott Skinner, Norton Healthcare Accomplishments: Team Spark created and launched Friends of VIPS to spearhead fundraising projects, increase the volunteer base and support employees and school families. Friends of VIPs will also provide leadership opportunities for young professionals and develop future board members. The team initiated relationships with Bernheim Forest, Metro Parks, GLI, Presentation Academy and Kentucky Hospital Association. They secured a key partnership with the Pikeville Medical Center to expand services to visually impaired preschoolers throughout the state. This relationship creates a model for future partnerships in rural areas. The team increased awareness of VIPS mission by initiating over $9,000 worth of media publicity.

About the Ignite Louisville Challenge
Ignite Louisville participants gain invaluable leadership training from top executives in Louisville's major corporations. The Challenge puts their learnings into action.
The young professionals are divided into teams to design and execute a project for a local non-profit. Many participants continue to work with their partner organizations long after graduation from the program.
At the end of the program, the teams present their projects to a panel of esteemed leaders who choose a winner.
